  • Measure the distance across the window from one side to the other. Put the end of a tape measure against the interior of the window edge and measure to the opposite interior edge.

  • Twist the curtain rod that it extends to roughly the same length as your window measurement. Most Twist and Fit curtain rods must be twisted in a counter-clockwise direction to extend the rod.

  • Hold the Twist and Fit curtain rod up to the window so it's flush against the top edge of the window pane. Continue to untwist the curtain rod until the tension bracket that extends from the back of the curtain rod on each side is lined up with each side of the interior of the window, along the top edge of the window.

  • Keep the brackets in place as you continue to twist the curtain rod until the brackets are tight against the inside of the window frame. Slide the rubber ring down the thinner side of the curtain rod into the thicker side of the curtain rod to keep the tension in place.

  • Release the curtain rod and see if it stays up. If the curtain rod slides down the window pane, untwist the rod some more to create more tension and then put the rubber ring back in place.
